North Reading Water Supply

For years the Town of North Reading has purchased a portion of it’s daily water supply, up to 1.5 million gallons per day (MGD), from the Town of Andover. In August of 2020 the Massachusetts Water Resources Commission authorized an agreement between the towns for an additional 1.5 MGD. North Reading now receives 100% of it’s water from Andover.
Andover’s water supply comes from Haggetts Pond, which has a watershed of1,422 acres contributing to the pond. In addition, the pond is supplemented with water from Fish Brook and from the Merrimack River.
