Heat Pump Install Rebates

Massachusetts homeowners can receive up to $9500 in rebates on a qualified heat pump installation.

In addition you can earn up to $1000 additional through two separate $500 bonus arrangements.

On top of that there is the:

0% Heat Loan Financing

  • loans up to $25,000
  • 0% interest financing
  • loan terms 3-7 years

Here’s the breakdown.

Heat Pump Rebate Tiers

Whole home heat pump system

Up to $8,500 standard rebate

Replacing primary heating source such as boilers or furnaces fueled by oil, gas, or propane. Also when replacing electric baseboard heat.

This appliesĀ to ducted central heat pump systems and whole-home ductless mini-split configurations.

Partial home heat pump system

About $1,125 per ton of capacity, up to $8,500 total

Supplemental heating and cooling where you are adding heat pumps to specific zones but not replacing the existing furnace or boiler.

Basic heat pump installation

About $250 per ton, up to $2,500

Add comfort to a specific space, such as with a single zone ductless mini split.

Bonus Requirements

Two $500 bonuses are available.

Heating load calculation

The HVAC contractor must perform an approved calculation confirming the system is sized to handle 90% to 120% of the total heating load at the outdoor design temperature across all conditioned spaces. A copy of this calculation must be submitted with your application.

Weatherization bonus

To qualify simply complete a Home Energy Assessment and finish the recommended weatherization work within one year prior to, or up to six months after, your heat pump installation.

Heat Pump Water Heater $750 Rebate

A separate rebate of $750 is available when replacing a conventional water heater with a heat pump water heater. Heat pump water heaters are efficient using 70% less energy than standard electric models.
