No Rest For The Plumber

It is hard to believe we actually were able to buy the home at the end of our street. It is substantially larger than the home we did own. Every time we pulled onto our street we could not help but notice how stately that home sat on its regal corner. I often dreamed of actually living in that home even though I knew it could never happen. Then the owners sold it to someone that did not have the appreciation for its character that we did. The home began to run down. There were repair men coming and going from a plumber Andover MA to roofers who would patch the roof and not replace it.

It was hard to watch as the home began falling apart. I had no idea that such a bad thing to happen to this house could be such a great thing for us. I think all of our neighbors and ourselves had noticed no one was living in the home. It was just sitting and falling apart as any home would. A home needs a family. Before long we learned the owners were interested in selling the home before it literally fell apart. We had noticed there were no more trips from the plumber Andover MA that use to frequent the home as the plumbing was coming apart.

There was also no electricity running to the home at this point. To say it was a home in disrepair would be an understatement. However this could mean some great pricing. At least we hoped so. They lived out of town so they just wanted to not have the responsibility. We were set to meet the realtor the next day. I could not sleep at all as could my wife. We literally sat on our porch looking at the home. We could see it just enough to focus on it. It was certainly not what the huge house on the corner was in her time but right now we had something much nicer than that home. We did not know how sound that corner home was after such a long period of no attention to repairs. You can not let a home sit for long periods of time empty. It just will not sit well without causing damage to itself. We played it over and over in our heads. We went back and forth with what an opportunity this would be for us at the right price….or was it? We had always been happy here. This home had all we needed. It was really all so confusing. We thought perhaps one of the issues was we did not know what condition the inside was in on the corner home. By this time we thought this house was more of a curiosity than a potential purchase.

We wondered why they would spend money on clean up as we thought the home would be in total disrepair inside as it was outside. When the front door swung open we were in massive shocked. The home was immaculate. It was so beautiful and charming. There was so much attention to detail in that home. Further proving you can not judge a book by its cover!
