Mass Save® Rebates & Incentives 2023
In 2023 rebates are available through Mass Save® on a wide range of heating & cooling equipment. They include up to $16,000 per home for air source heat pumps and up to $25,000 per home for ground source heat pumps.
In addition Mass Save has a Heat Loan program where eligible homeowners can receive interest free financing up to $25,000 for energy efficient home upgrades.
Heat pumps are highly energy efficient. Which means that Massachusetts residents not only receive an upfront rebate but they will continue to save on their energy bills going forward.
Heat Pump Benefits
Heat pumps provide heat during winter and cooling during summer while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Customers installing heat pumps for whole home heating and cooling are eligible for a rebate up to $16,000.
Air source heat pumps transfer heat between your house and the outside air. In summer it removes warm air from inside your home replacing it with cooler air. In winter it extracts warm air from outside to replace colder air inside.
Recent advances in heat pump technology have made it possible to extract heat from outside air even during periods of subfreezing temperatures. This makes air source heat pumps a legitimate space heating alternative to furnaces and baseboards.
High efficiency heat pumps can reduce electricity use for heating by approximately 50% compared to electric resistance heating. High-efficiency heat pumps also dehumidify better than standard central air conditioners, resulting in less energy usage and more cooling comfort in summer months.
