An oil to gas conversion in Topsfield replacing an old oil fired boiler with a high efficiency Burnham Alpine gas boiler.
The home also had an inefficient electric water heater which was replaced by adding a 64 gallon SuperStor as a sixth zone.
The oil tank was removed to make way for the new system although Ken Roberts made sure a temporary oil supply was set up so the old boiler would provide heat for the household until the new system was operational.
The end result was a new heating system operating at 95% efficiency versus the old system which was estimated to be operating at less than 70% efficiency. The new system included 5 zones for heat plus one zone for domestic hot water.
As Ken explains in the video the system is designed to give priority to hot water. If the the system is producing heat to any or all of the five zones once there is a call for hot water the heating zones shut down and hot water is prioritized.
This family is looking forward to a huge reduction in heating costs for many years to come.
